AuthorCon II Wrap Up & Upcoming Shows

Scares That Care presents Authorcon II was a resounding success. My Friday night reading went well and was live streamed by Books and Beer. My hope is to have that video posted to my Youtube channel in the near future. Saturday morning, I sat on a panel The Psychology of Horror and many of the those who attended swung by my table over the next couple of days and purchased a copy of PORTRAIT OF A NUCLEAR FAMILY. With the addition sales of some rare Arkham House books and other HPL ephemera, I was able to cover my costs and turn a profit. Fifty percent of my profits were later donated to Scares That Care in the amount of $512. A good weekend overall and hope for a similar one next year if I am able to attend.

In the future, I will be at a few shows in CT, the first of which is the Brandford Author Walk on May 6th. The flyer states there will be 30 authors, however, that number as since increased to close to 40. Swing on by if you are in the area.

I’ll also be attend the following shows in the future:

Trinity-on-Main at 69 Main St, New Britain, CT on May 20th from 10AM – 4PM.

VFW Book Show at 41 Veterans Dr. New Britain, CT on June 25th from 10AM – 4PM

Connecticut Horror Fest at the XL Center in Hartford, CT from September 23rd – 24th

Some possible shows in the works are:

The Book Fiend Reader’s Fest on August 17th

The CAPA Book Fest – TBD

During the first week of June, I will once again be attending the Yale Writers’ Workshop, this time learning from Molly Gaudry. I had a blast last year and I am super excited for another week of improvement.

Professional Jealousy: Good or Bad?

I’ve heard many counsel to avoid professional jealousy towards your fellow writers. However, we are human beings and when you see someone achieve a goal you’ve been working at, you can’t help but get a little annoyed and jealous of them. That isn’t to say you can’t also be incredibly happy for them at the same time.

Things are a brewing

So in the past few weeks, I’ve attended a couple small, local shows with varied results, which happens. It appeared everyone is still recovering from
