Working through the Pain

Crazy Days. A lot go headaches.

A lot has happened in the new year. We got vaccines! We had an insurrection! I am trying to get off caffiene! All of these things are giving me killer headaches.

I avoided writing or talking about the Insurrection of January 6th, 2021 because I wanted to wait and get a much information about it before I said much. Not because I wanted to figure out where I stood. I stood squarely on the side of the National Guard should have been brought in to arrest every single person found in the capital building who didn’t belong and arrest the President at the same time for inciting this mess. The Far Right lost any and all credibility (not that I every thought they had any) the minute they began vandalizing our capital while decrying vandalism during any other protest. You just can’t have it both ways.

The stories coming out over the last fews days, police beating assaulted, insurrectionists roaming the capital with zip ties after having discussed takes hostages and murdering elected officials on social media, and insiders reporting that the President reacted to the attempt coup with glee, is all heart wrenching and stressful. So I’ve been trying to read and work to keep my mind off the madness. I read the news, stay current, but this is all so much crazy.

My stress headaches have not been well served by my attempt to lessen my caffeine intake. Caffeine headaches are no joke.

Today, after a long day of news, errands, stress, and throbbing headaches, I didn’t get in front of my computer to write until nearly 7PM. I got my words in. A little over a 1000, my minimum. I did it. I’m glad. I need that release.

Now I’m going to go read a little more and go to sleep. This year has not started well, but there’s time to turn it around.

We all just have to keep putting the work in. Work toward our happiness. Work toward a better future for everyone. Work toward equality. Work toward truth. It all takes work.

Keep working, my friends.

Professional Jealousy: Good or Bad?

I’ve heard many counsel to avoid professional jealousy towards your fellow writers. However, we are human beings and when you see someone achieve a goal you’ve been working at, you can’t help but get a little annoyed and jealous of them. That isn’t to say you can’t also be incredibly happy for them at the same time.

Things are a brewing

So in the past few weeks, I’ve attended a couple small, local shows with varied results, which happens. It appeared everyone is still recovering from
